Spirtual direction is the contemplative practice in which one person accompanies another person in the process of discovering the presence and action of God in his or her life. Counseling or problem solving is not the focus of spiritual direction.
Everything in a person's life can be brought to spiritual direction, but the special focus is on the presence of God and on the person's life of prayer and spiritual practice. A person meets with a spiritual director regularly, typically once a month.
Regular meeting with a spiritual director helps one become more attentive to God and more responsive to God's invitations. On-going spiritual direction is offered by the Co-directors and other qualified spiritual directors at Mount Saint Mary House of Prayer.
